Some Facts about Seiyuu

Hello, come back again to my post about Japan. Today my writing is about one of the famous professions in Japan “Seiyu”. So if  you want to know let’s read this blog ^^

Seiyuu or called by the voice actor, is one of the professions that cannot be separated from the entertainment industry in Japan. Yup, from anime to games, Seiyuu always plays an important role to give "life" to characters, both 2D and 3D that appear in the entertainment media. A Seiyuu often sings his own songs from the anime he plays. Some of them released albums as J-pop singers, became radio broadcasters, or drama actors on stage. So these are some facts about Seiyuu:

1.      Education
In Japan, who want to become seiyuu can take courses in drama majors held by colleges, universities, or vocational schools (senmon gakkō). In accredited formal education institutions, the length of education is at least more than one year (at least 800 hours of study). One generation of Seiyuu in the academy or vocational school is required to have a minimum of 40 students. Curriculum in vocational schools is more general, ranging from the basics of acting to practice. Not only in vocational schools with special voice casts, seiyuu candidates can also study in the seiyuu department of general vocational schools which also educate narrators, broadcasters, electronic media staff, and anime production staff.

2.      Job
While playing anime, the seiyuu must be able to portray characters of various ages, men or women, babies, children, elderly people, to animal sounds and machines. The voice of a male character (especially if the character is young) is often filled by female seiyuu. Conversely, the voice of women's roles is almost never filled with men.

The process of charging anime is called afureko (after recording). Dialogs are recorded while viewing conversation characters on the screen. But now, seiyuu often have to record sounds in front of a blank screen or sketch images from the anime being produced. This process is called puresuko (pre-scoring). Seiyuu appropriates the dialogue to follow the actor's lips on the screen. Records for a two-hour story film usually take about 7 to 8 hours. In contrast to anime or film, the sound recordings of video game characters are recorded sequentially according to the course of the game. A seiyuu even has to fill a voice of his own without the presence of an opponent in dialogue

3.      Salary
Yep, that's a fact that exists in the Japanese entertainment industry. Seiyuu is one of the highest-paying people in a work. Seiyuu's income every year is very large, it can even close to Rp1 billion. Much bigger than animators, who in fact have the lowest income in an animation work. If Seiyuu pocketed a salary of up to hundreds of millions of rupiah in a year, voice cast in Indonesia on the contrary. They are only paid a little, even lower than the salaries of the animators. Except, the voice actor is also an actor who already has a big name from the films he has starred in.

4.      How Seiyuu is treated by Japanese people?

If in Japan Seiyuu is revered like a celebrity, it is often the "selling point" of a work, so it is not in Indonesia. Not many voice actors are known in Indonesia. In fact, perhaps the voice in Indonesia is only considered as a "complement", so that the characters can speak out and bring the story. In fact, sometimes voice actor in Indonesia also as actors, or actors who are "borrowed" only to fill the voice. Unlike Japan, which is where Seiyuu has become a major profession, so they don’t need to be an actor too.

5.      Media Exposes

Seiyuu gained a lot of support and was exposed to the media. For those who like watching anime or playing Japanese games, you must know names like Daisuke Namikawa (Prison School), Yoshimaya Hosoya (Haikyuu) And Mamoru Miyano (One Punch Man). This makes Seiyuu better known than the animator.

Keep reading my blog on every week to have a new information and knowledge. Thanks 😊

How Is The Work Customs of Doctors in Japan?

Yey… Welcome to my fourth week posting. It’s still about the work customs in Japan. In this post I will explain about the work customs of doctors in Japan.

Eg. Japanese Doctors

During this time, Japan is the main destination for treatment from residents of other countries. The hospital in Japan has qualified equipment so that treatment can take place very well. Alright here is about doctor in Japan, happy reading..
1.      In education hospitals in Japan, patient handling is divided based on small teams, where 1 small team consists of 1 consul, 1 senior resident, 1 or 2 junior resident and 1 student or young doctor which is responsible for 5-10 patient.

2.      Daily activities include visiting patients 2 times a day (morning and night), before visiting patients they do a small discussion about the progress of terapy patient.

3.      Actually in Japan, it was not the uniform that made the difference but only on the identity card. For doctors is blue, pink identity card for nurses, green for administrative staff/ medical technicians/ laboratory technicians, red for security/ cleaning service and yellow for medical students.

4.      Usually doctors are considered as public health servants. A doctor works under pressure from the owner of a hospital where they work. Therefore, doctors always try ro be friendly and kind. They will answer each patient’s questions and sometimes they fulfill the patient’s requests. The doctor also should not say in high tune. Moreover it can make the patient angry because they don’t serve with all their heart. This will make the name of a hospital worse. However in Japan, doctor is like a god. Asking questions that is not important and asking for a drug dosage to doctors are things that is considered rude. You can only sit down, answer questions, give complaints as requested then go out. Even so, the doctors in Japan is professional.

5.      Japan is super busy country. Time is very valuable for the residents. Therefore, even though a clinic or hospital has a fixed opening schedule, you must set the time before going for treatment. The crowded queues of patients make you have to wait quite long. Moreover, there is possibility that the doctors needed are also not in place. That’s why patient must set a time before going to the clinic or hospital for treatment. This also to make the plan runs smoothly and there is no time wasted.

Well, that is about Japanese Doctor a little different with the doctor in Indonesia. Hopefully this information can expand our knowledge. Thank you 😊

Japanese Police Work Customs

Picture of Japanese police
Japan is one of the safest country in the world. Research shows a number of factors that proves crime rates in Japan are very low. This is because of violence prohibition in Japanese culture. Things that causes anger and aggression are emabrassing things for Japanese society.
The security of a country certainly can’t be seperated from the role of the police. What is the difference between police in Indonesia and Japan? It’s very interesting to discuss especially if you want to live in Japan. So here is about the Japanese police:

1.                  First Impression
If you see the police in Japan it is very different from Indonesia. Japanese policies may seems ineffective in threating criminals. How can this impression arises? Yup, you will see that policies in Japan use bicycle or small car to patrol.

If you think that Japanese policies are ineffective then you are wrong. Police in Japan has a great strength. They can detain someone for 23 days for questioning without accusation, without guarantees offered and without legal representation, wah it sounds weird right? Police in Japan believes that most of the defendants in Japan admitted their mistakes after being interrogated.

2.                  The funniest police
Japan is known as a friendly person. Japanese people like funny things. In Japan funny characters are needed as advertisements to sell everything. This also affects the police in Japan, every police in Japan has a unique and funny logo character.
The best known police character comes from Tokyo Metrapolitan Police Departement “Pipo-kun”.
Pipo-kun character

This is a poster of the police to report a crime to a Japanese emergency number (110) which is made with funny or even horrible.

3.                  There are so many policies in Japan
According to the information I read you can meet the police anywhere in Tokyo. Police in Japan will handle the slightest problem, for example a lost bicycle. If you break the rules of cycling parking, bicycle will usually be confiscated. You can pay a fine to get your bike back, because crime rates is very low in Japan so the police attention much about crime in cycling but it’s not like crime in Indonesia, the criminal just because break the rules of cycling.
Eg. rules of cycling in Japan

If you don’t know the direction you can ask the police. Roads in Japan are narrow and winding, address writing in Japan is very complex usually there is no street name. Japanese people often get lost so it is very common to them to ask the police. Japanese police has map and they will find your destination immediately.

The positive things in Japan is that the citizens are very comfortable around the police.
Those are about the police in Japan. Which one interest you more police in Japan or Indonesia?^^
Thanks for reading..

Work Customs For Teacher Profession in Japan

Last week I discussed about the Japanese work customs in general, this time I will discuss the Japanese work customs specifically that is for teacher profession.

classroom in Japan

How do the Japanese appreciates a teacher? Japanese assumes the teacher as a very important and valuable profession because it is in charge of educating children for the nation future.
1.      In japan primary school students teach by teacher with a doctorate. This shows that they are very serious about teacher profession and they realize that early age education is very important because the child’s brain growth occurs at the age of 0 to 10 years old. In Japan, teacher is person who skillfuls and competents in their field. Being a teacher is not just teaching but a teacher must know about pedagogics, that’s why it must be graduated from department of education. Meanwhile, nowadays in Indonesia some schools accept teachers no matter about their educational background.

2.      Guiding the process of learning (gakushu shidou), the teacher must be able to make the learning atmosphere be fun and out of pressure by doing extracurricular activities, arts, social and ect.

3.      Guiding students (Seito Shido), this is the process of developing students’ personalities to become a warm and open-minded. Yes, in Indonesia teachers are also required to have abilities like this. But teachers in Japan do this by including students in community activities so that they can actively interact.

4.      As well as Indonesia, Japan also has teacher evaluations. Giving awards and salary increases to outstanding teacher, also gives a conducive atmosphere to increase teacher spirit in working. While, for teachers who are less capable in their field will be given training. Nah, this is the difference teacher evaluation in Japan and Indonesia. So in Japan, they don’t only make teacher evaluations but they also gives award to teacher who has a good achievement to make them maximal in working.

5.      “There is no favourite school”
Because all schools are regulated by the government there is no special difference between favourite school or not. By this regulations parents wouldn’t confused to put their children in certain school because all of the schools are same.

6.      Japanese teacher will always try to stay close to their students. One of the way they do this is by sending a ‘shochumimai’ or summer greeting card. The contents of the card are generally in the form of questions that ask for news, sharing or remind. For example like asking “what about you vacation?”  Or “the school is lonely without your presence”. This greeting card aims to establish warm communication with students and foster enthusiasm to be ready to go back to school for the next few weeks.

Those are about teacher work customs in Japan and honestly I am proud to the teacher profession 😊 Thanks for reading..
